Female Master?

I'm a bit late to the game, but I've just discovered that The Master in Dr. Who is now a woman. I'm disturbed by this.

Now, if the creators of Dr. Who had the Time Lords regenerating as various sexes all along, I'd be okay with that. It would actually make sense. If they wrote the parts well, instead of the typical feminazi "strong woman" parts, it would have worked well and added to the depth of the franchise.

But, they didn't.

To add the concept of gender swapping now, and only for one character, just seems to be pandering to political correctness and contrary to the ethos of the good Doctor.

Of course, I've been dissatisfied with The Master since Roger Delgado.
